Bedroom eyes

2022
performance, 20 min

A used mattress lies on the floor as a man, wearing hotel slippers and a cream-coloured satin robe, enters and sits on it. He sensually whispers into the wireless microphone, expressing that he has been contemplating how a large part of his body feels like a hole—or several holes, to be exact. Small holes, spiritual holes, greedy holes, and a whole new world. And that uncanny feeling of feeling like an asshole. He slowly dances like a shadow along the contour of the room, to the reverberation of a muffled rhythm.

This work was commissioned for “Performance Days 5 - Fornemmelser for Bergman,” organized by Performance Art Stavanger and curated by Anne-Marte Eidseth Rygh. Five artists were assigned an Ingmar Bergman movie, to which they responded by reactualizing the material into a performance. This work is a response to Persona (1966).
